Heat Tracing
Mission-Ready Freeze Protection.Freeze protection and process temperature maintenance for power generation, petrochemical, and industrial facilities — engineered, installed, and documented by Patriot's own certified electricians.
Heat Tracing That Protects What Can't Afford to Fail
Heat tracing maintains pipe temperature when ambient conditions drop below safe operating limits. Done right, it prevents freeze damage, maintains flow in viscous process lines, and keeps safety-critical systems operational year-round.
Patriot designs, supplies, and installs heat trace systems for facilities where failure is not an option — power generation plants, petrochemical processing, industrial manufacturing, and commercial infrastructure. Every project is fully self-performed by our own licensed electricians, with complete documentation delivered at closeout.
Every Project Includes
- Engineered heat loss calculations and circuit design
- OEM cable, accessories, and control panels
- Licensed electrical installation — no subcontractors
- Megger test results for every circuit at completion
- As-built drawings and panel schedules
- Commissioning report with thermostat setpoints
- Warranty documentation from all manufacturers
- Controls integration support via CIAC Systems where applicable
Every Cable Type. One Contractor.
Patriot works with all three primary heat trace technologies. The right choice depends on pipe size, temperature requirement, exposure, and energy budget — we'll specify what's correct for your application.
Self-Regulating Cable
Automatically adjusts power output based on pipe temperature. Energy-efficient, safe for plastic pipe, and ideal for freeze protection across standard industrial applications.
- Cannot overheat — safe to overlap
- 15°F to 250°F pipe temperature range
- Thermon, nVent, BriskHeat
- Best for: freeze protection, general process
Constant Watt Cable
Fixed watt-per-foot output regardless of temperature. Required for high-temperature process maintenance, long line lengths, and applications where self-regulating cable cannot maintain setpoint.
- Zone parallel or series resistance
- Up to 500°F pipe temperature
- Chromalox, Thermon, nVent
- Best for: process temp maintenance, viscosity
Mineral Insulated Cable
Stainless-sheathed copper conductors in a compressed mineral oxide insulation. The highest-performance option for extreme temperatures, corrosive environments, and nuclear or safety-critical service.
- Up to 1200°F pipe temperature
- Explosion-proof and Class 1 Div 1 rated
- Chromalox, Pyrotenax
- Best for: critical process, hazardous areas
What Heat Tracing Protects
Heat trace systems protect a wide range of critical process and infrastructure applications. Patriot has designed and installed systems across all of the following.
Freeze Protection
Maintain water and process piping above 32°F during cold weather. The most common application — from small domestic lines to large-diameter industrial headers.
Process Temperature Maintenance
Hold viscous fluids, chemicals, and process media at operating temperature to prevent solidification, maintain flow, and protect process quality.
Instrument & Valve Winterization
Protect transmitters, valves, analyzers, and control equipment from freezing. Critical for maintaining plant instrumentation reliability through winter.
Control Panel & Enclosure Heating
Maintain minimum ambient temperature inside electrical enclosures and control panels to prevent condensation, component failure, and freeze damage.
Tank & Vessel Heating
Bottom and side heating for storage tanks, condensate receivers, and process vessels — maintaining pumpability and preventing product degradation.
Safety & Fire Protection Systems
Freeze protection for fire suppression lines, deluge systems, and wet-pipe sprinkler systems in facilities where system reliability is a life-safety requirement.
AI Data Center Liquid Cooling Infrastructure
Outdoor dry cooler loops, cooling tower supply and return lines, CDU inter-building piping, and condenser water runs for AI, HPC, and colocation facilities. When GPU racks cost $1–3M each and AI training downtime runs $100K–$500K per hour, freeze protection is not optional — and most facilities are installing liquid cooling with no industrial-grade protection in place.
