CIAC Heat Trace Monitoring — Installed & Integrated
Mission-Ready Freeze Protection.Patriot installs and commissions CIAC Systems Series 86 monitoring panels — the patented, air-gapped platform that turns your heat trace system from reactive to predictive.
Know Your Circuits Are Working. Before They Don't.
Heat trace failures don't announce themselves. A degraded cable, a compromised junction box, moisture infiltrating a conduit fitting — these issues develop silently until a breaker trips in a winter freeze and the phone starts ringing at 3am.
CIAC Systems' Series 86 monitoring panel changes that equation. Automated insulation resistance testing runs daily when temperatures drop below 40°F, trending every circuit's health over time and flagging degradation before it becomes a failure. Patriot installs, wires, commissions, and integrates the full CIAC system — hardware to dashboard.
Because Patriot installs both the heat trace and the monitoring, the system is built right the first time. No handoff between contractors, no mismatched documentation, no coverage gaps.
What a CIAC Installation Includes
- Series 86 field enclosure installation and wiring per circuit layout
- Data Acquisition Cabinet mounting and power connection
- Fiber optic backbone between field panels and DAC
- LAN dashboard configuration and workstation integration
- Circuit-by-circuit commissioning and baseline megohm testing
- Alarm threshold setup and operator training
- Full as-built documentation and turnover package
Installed by Patriot's licensed electrical team — IBEW / NECA / Licensed Electrical Contractor. All work is documented and coordinated with your existing heat trace scope.
Three-Layer Platform. One Integrated View.
The Series 86 system is purpose-built for industrial EHT monitoring — field-hardened, air-gapped, and scalable from a single panel to hundreds of circuits across a full facility.
CIAC Field Enclosure
Installed at each heat trace panel location, the field enclosure performs automated 500 VDC megger tests on every connected circuit. NEMA 4 powder-coated steel or NEMA 4X stainless available. Supports 12–48 circuits per panel, configurable on request.
Data Acquisition Cabinet
The DAC aggregates data from all field enclosures across the facility — trending megohm readings, current draw, ambient temperature, and relative humidity over time. Central collection point for the air-gapped fiber network.
LAN Dashboard
Plant personnel access real-time circuit health data through a local, on-site workstation — no internet connection required. Site overview, cabinet drill-down, geo dot map, and DWG circuit mapping all accessible from a single interface.
Fiber Optic Backbone
Field enclosures connect to the DAC via fiber optic cable — physically isolated from plant ethernet and any internet-facing network. Air-gapped by design, with no cybersecurity surface for external threats to reach your monitoring data.
Alarm & Trend Monitoring
Configurable alarm thresholds notify operators when a circuit's insulation resistance drops below a set threshold. Trend graphs show degradation patterns over weeks and months — catching moisture accumulation and cable wear before failure.
Commissioning & Training
Every CIAC installation Patriot delivers includes full commissioning: circuit-by-circuit baseline testing, alarm threshold configuration, and hands-on operator training. Your team leaves day one knowing how to read the dashboard and respond to an alarm.
Anywhere Heat Trace Failure Has Consequences
AI Data Centers & HPC
Cooling infrastructure, chilled water loops, and outdoor piping at hyperscale and colocation facilities. A single freeze event can bring down critical systems — CIAC monitoring ensures heat trace is performing 24/7 without manual inspection.
Power Generation
Outdoor plant piping, lube oil systems, condensate return, instrument tubing — power stations carry hundreds of heat trace circuits that must be reliable through every winter. CIAC gives plant operators circuit-level visibility across the entire facility.
Oil & Gas Processing
Wellheads, compressor stations, refineries, and storage terminals. EHT failure in classified areas creates safety events, not just maintenance calls. CIAC's air-gapped architecture is appropriate for hazardous location environments.
Chemical & Petrochemical
Process lines, reactor piping, tank farms, and instrument tubing in chemical plants. PSM-regulated facilities benefit from CIAC's documented alarm logs and trending data as evidence of proactive maintenance compliance.
Water & Wastewater
Pump stations, water treatment facilities, and exposed distribution mains in cold climates. Municipal infrastructure has no tolerance for freeze events — CIAC monitoring provides advance warning so repairs happen on a maintenance schedule, not an emergency one.
Industrial & Commercial
Manufacturing facilities, food processing plants, and large commercial campuses. Any facility with multiple EHT circuits across a large footprint benefits from centralized monitoring — eliminating manual circuit-by-circuit inspections each winter.
Heat Trace and Monitoring. Designed Together. Built Together.
Most facilities treat heat trace installation and monitoring as separate scopes from separate contractors. Patriot installs both — which means the monitoring is designed around the heat trace system, not retrofitted onto it. Your as-built documentation covers both systems, your operator training covers both systems, and your single point of contact covers both systems.
Stop Guessing. Start Knowing.
New CIAC installation alongside a heat trace project, or a retrofit onto an existing system — Patriot scopes, installs, and commissions the full CIAC platform. One contractor, one contract, one turnover package.
